<full>We worship Cecilia Dean. We even learnt from a friend who worships Woody Allen, Orson Welles and River Phoenix to make shrines dedicated to our favorite person on the glamourous side of fashion.

It may sound childish but it's infinitely soothing, entertaining and educational to follow this gorgeous poised woman with real allure and great love for fashion from one dress to another from one place to another and to finally learn that she's not a perfect replicant or a myth. She's real.

Instead of putting all the pictures of Cecilia here* we just took an autograph on an Alain Robbe-Grillet book so that any of you who are familiar with graphology can make all the right conclusions and start worshiping her just like us.

<full>Whether its autobiographical fiction or an honest first-person narration remains for you to decide. But here at C&S we just love re-discovering Moscow through the eyes of its ultra-sensitive and fabulously creative friends from other places.

Did you know that Purple Magazine's Monsieur Olivier Zahm worked as an art critic for Artforum, Flash Art, Art Press and Texte Zur Kunst during the 1980s and early 1990s? Well he did, and it shows in the his dramatic black and whites and technikolor from Moscow. Get a taste of the juicy snaps at www.purple-diary.com.

Our Ministry of Culture should seriously consider giving Derek Blasberg a medal of honour. For promoting Moscow's art and fashion scenes in the international media. We love his tongue-in-cheek commentary on all things glamourous at www.style.com

Mlle Sarah's blog is an harbour full of life-affirming, fresh and delicate images uploaded with a sincere and inspirational attitude. The book-shop girl and magazines fanatic, as her first Arkitip blog profiled her, shares touchingly intimate visual reports on her visit to Moscow for Cycles&Seasons at http://blogs.colette.fr/colette/

The brilliant Verrecchia brothers, with Russian-sounding names Timothee and Vassili, have their own spot at Colette's blog page. You have to see the pictures as Tim & Vass are the true cosmopolites who have seen it all - well- most of it for sure. They mastermind the Apple's creative outreach, edit L'Officiel Homme Magazine, and are responsible for multiple creative collaborations all over the world with people as hi-profile as Hedi Slimane and as a exciting and unknown as that latest new band you've just found on myspace. http://blogs.colette.fr/tim-vass/

To tune into Item Idem's Saturday talk-show@Solyanka it's simply vital that you see the pics he takes and the comments he makes at Colette's. Check it out here http://blogs.colette.fr/itemidem/

<full>We were going to start this entry by saying that Cyril Duval’s work is so sharp that it hurts but actually it doesn’t. It makes you feel good!

An alchemist, a shaman, an artist, a retailer, a graphic designer, a writer, an editor. Monsieur Duval is a true multi-tasker whose main asset is the ability to be playful with very serous topics. Intensifying globalization, art history, commercialization… Anyone up for it?

Fear not, this natural born showman will provoke and soothe with what he calls “a poetic alternative to possibly-pessimist reality”.

So far this alternative has been manifested in the wild interior of Bernhard Willhelm’s flagship in Tokyo, a pop-up bar on the 032c’s Berlin premises, multiple collaborations with the Paris fashion Mecca Colette, special projects with Nagi Noda, Terence Koh, Karl Lagerfeld and Bruce La Bruce.

Visual excitement, wit, personality and – yes – even a bit of technical ingenuity is what he mashes up in a way that is intellectually pointed, socially conscious and dare we say veeeery still stylish!

Item Idem ™ ‘s instinctive approach to sampling everything from high- to mass -makes his art incredibly melodic and upbeat. It will make you smile, will make you think, will get under your skin. Just like good music does!

For Cycles and Seasons Cyril Duval came up with a lecture, which promises to be a real spectacle. During his previous talk, in Amsterdam, he explained Item Idem ™ design and art ideas through a staged poodle beauty pageant.

Oh and don’t miss a resurrection of the Berlin’s must-go-to EVER EVER ALTAR BAR organized together with guys from 032c and Solyanka.

French-born and educated Cyril Duval, aka Item Idem ™ has relocated to Tokyo to manage a Colette+Comme des Garcons collaboration, and now calls the city his own. A new store designed by this super-productive 31-year- old will be unveiled very soon in Moscow. And we can hardly wait to get on this rollercoaster of ideas!

<full>Does Le Baron need introduction? No-no-nope! Everyone who needs to know is well aware of this uber-cool Paris night club. The A-listers? The friends and family?

Well, let’s indulge in the shameless name dropping game because the name of every Le Baron regular reads like a poem, good enough to lift your spirits Sophia Coppola, Kirsten Dunst, Uma Thurman, Scarlett Johanson, Agness Deyn and it goes on and on….Just this very weekend we’ve seen Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem spreading the Spanish pizzazz at the club.

It is so comfortable there and the vibe is so upbeat that the avant-guardian of modern pop Bjork will sing 2 UNLIMITED’S “No Limits” for the crowd and MGMT will fly in just to do their act here.

And the best part - this clique of true allure with the world at their feet have enough sense of humor to get all crazy on the dance floor to the sound of THE ROLLING STONES’ “You don’t always get what you want”!

Opened by the slick and clever entrepreneur Lionel Bensemoun and the brilliant and nonchalant André, the graffiti artist who’s work Catherine Deneuve would love to see cover all of Paris, in 2004. Le Baron knows how to act locally while thinking globally. The guys now have pop up les branchés in Miami, Tokyo and New York! Oh how Moscow needs a place like that! NOW!

Well, we are happy to have at least a teaser-party organized together with Moscow's coolest promoter collective Idle Conversation on the 10th.

<full>The disarmingly sincere and sweet Vardoui Nazarian is a young pro with 3 successful collections under her belt. That and a signature style that subtly blends the eastern, the medieval and the cinematic.

Vardoui's roots are in the luscious and ornamental Armenian culture but she avoids the obvious folkloric themes that could just be an easy ticket to success in the opulece-addicted Moscow.

VN’s collections are in many ways like films of Serguei Paradzhanov, the tortured Armenian filmmaker admired for his deeply personal and meaningful work. Poetic, delicate and enigmatic they seem to be a dreamy recreation of a forgotten world.

Her atmospheric shows always have a romantic moment. Be it a diaphanous dress made of light-as-air fabric, or a tender shade of pastel, or the inspired music she commissions from Moscow’s beloved dj Yaponets, Vardoui finds a way to move her audience. Avoiding directness the same way a young girl’s contemplative poem never slips into the obvious.

Her new collection, built around Paradzhanov’s masterpiece “The Colour of Pomegranate” is sure to be filled with drama and beauty while carefully preserving the spirit of her source of inspiration.

<full>What’s brilliant about Moscow is that it changes as drastically when it has money as when it doesn’t. Like the Russians themselves, the capital has an uninhibited, almost pathological, sincerity. After witnessing some of the excesses of the naughty noughties, the decade of indulgence that Moscow synthesized so rapturously, it’s a breath of fresh air to see that the pendulum swings the other way and Moscow follows suit, wholeheartedly. Some changes are pleasant: traffic has become bearable now (so, dear friends visting next week, when you get stuck, pls remind yourselves that it was far worse just months ago). Others less so: the devaluation of the rouble has allowed me to experience for the first time the strange sight of my money disappearing without doing anything. Most Western folks at home won’t know what it is I am talking about but any developing nation fashionista can tell you all about it.

    <full>What do you feel today?
Rebirth

How do you take critics?
I can't influence it. I take it as a reason for thinking.

What is your favourite color?
Black.

How many cigarettes do you smoke a day?
A pack.

Who would you be if you would not do fashion?
Chef in a restaurant, I love to cook.

Why do you love fashion?
It makes me analyze and think.

What does your design say about you?
That I am sensitive.

What should a woman wear to look sexy?
High heels and a black dress with sharp lines and shapes.

Whom would you like to learn fashion from?
Helmut Lang. He is the best to combine futuristic technologies and complicated tailoring.

Are you a friendly person? How many friends do you have?
I am friendly but I don’t have a lot of friends.

Where can we find you at night?
At home or in Denis Simachev Bar.

What was your last discovery about Moscow?
I finally saw normal hostels opening, like the ones in Amsterdam, you know? We are catching up with Europe and our destination becomes attactive for low-budget tourists. Love that!

What music is playing in your studio now?
Classic music and french songs from Dalida or Charles Aznavour.

What do you do when you alone at home?
I watch films, I can rewatch Boom and Boom 2 dozens of times. The scene with pupils running outside the school for a break heals my mind.

This self-confessed 90s club kid has calmed down and launched a namesake line in 2003. ST’s seasonal offerings are a must-see of the Russian MODA routine for the highly feminine and edgy, stylish shows. ST loves a refined and confident woman in the mold of Helmut Newton. A woman who’s well mannered enough to never wear flats, or leave the house with her hair undone, yet makes it all look as cool and easy as breathing. Old-school fashion arsenal for the new breed of seductive and alluring Femmes Fatales is what his clothes are.

The new collection promises a line-up of wearable looks of 90’s minimalism spliced with same decade's Mugler/Gaultier surreal kind of fashion fantasy.

The final ingredient to the GR energy booster - the fragility and tension of the teenage masculinity.

His audience is rough and occasionally angry young men who skate, listen to black metal bands from Norway, go to Church and love Mother Russia like no generation after 1987.

Gosha Rubchinskiy has been on the art and fashion scene since his final years at high school, working as a underground party promoter, stylist and performance artist. With his clothing line Gosha Rubchinskiy works towards developing a contemporary and emotionally charged vocabulary in menswear.

Jop and Gert presented both, Spring issue of the magazine and the cologne, sold here exclusively, in Colette office just across the street from the store.

<full>A Siberian art-school drop out who once sneaked into a 12 day voluntary confinement performance by one of Russia’s transgressive cultural exports Sinie Nosi, has been producing a paradoxical mix of classy evening headwear and furs as well as graphics-driven hoodies since 2000.

Addicted to playing with the contradictory elements this Novosibirsk native channels Moscow’s love for excess and refinement with a dash of irony thrown in.

The fall winter 09-10 collection references the pre-WWII obsession with utopia that ruled Russia and Germany, as well as the ancient Greeks attachment to the joys of athletic endeavor.

Judging by the mood-board and the fact that Konstantin Gayday’s shows are known for the supreme and forward casting, we might just see a Russian answer to Iris Strubegger during this outdoor presentation that Winzavod will host on the 10th of April.

<full>In November 2008, we were sitting and thinking- when was the last time we flew to London and New York for a Fashion Week? And the answer was- this September. And when was the last time we went to see shows by Russian Designers all in one week? Never. All the designers worth seeing have been showing separately from any official weeks in Moscow and we've constantly had to catch up with their schedules, inevitably missing some, catching others.
That's why we have put together 5 of the nicest names in Russian Fashion and asked them to show their collections in two days only. We have added a couple of brilliant art shows and a party to these and called it all Cycles and Seasons.

Cycles and Seasons team.
